Types of car lifts

1.Single post lift

A single-post lift is a special equipment used to lift vehicles such as cars parked on the ground to a certain height for maintenance. It is a typical partial lift used for automobiles and engineering vehicles to replace wheels, tires or machine tools for carrying out various maintenance operations on vehicle chassis. The single-post lift is easy to operate, beautiful, and can lift heavy objects conveniently and labor-savingly without taking up space. It has the effect of saving time and effort. When not in use, it is completely placed on the ground, which is convenient for reversing the car and placing items. It is an indispensable machine for car repair. Single-post vehicle lifts are divided into two models: movable and fixed. 2.Double post lifts

Double-post car lifts are a special mechanical lifting equipment commonly used by car repair and maintenance units, and are widely used in the repair and maintenance of small cars such as sedans. Double-post car lifts can save a lot of ground space while lifting the car in the air, making it convenient for ground operations. However, in order to save the most materials, the bottom plate is generally removed from the double-post car lift. Because there is no bottom plate, the torque of the post needs to be offset by the ground, so the foundation requirements are very high. If there is a beam (gantry lift), it is offset by the beam.

There are two types of double-post lifts: symmetrical and asymmetrical. The arm lengths of the four arms of the symmetrical lift are roughly equal, so that the center (or center of mass) of the car is in the middle of the post. This symmetrical lift may be the best choice for daily maintenance of cars such as pickup trucks and box trucks. However, for some symmetrical two-post lifts with insufficient width between the posts, the inability to open the door after the car is lifted is a big disadvantage. The posts of the asymmetrical lift are rotated backward by an angle (about 30°), and the front arm is slightly shorter than the rear arm. When the car is parked in the appropriate position of this asymmetrical lift, the position of the car moves back a little, so we can easily get in and out of the door. Moreover, the rotating posts of this asymmetrical lift can ensure that the center of gravity of the vehicle is safely positioned between the posts.

3.Four-post lift

The four-post car lift is a special mechanical lifting equipment commonly used by large-tonnage car or truck repair and maintenance units. The four-post car lift is also suitable for four-wheel alignment, because generally the four-post car lift has a four-wheel alignment gear that can be adjusted to ensure levelness. According to its structure, the four-post lift is divided into two types: upper cylinder type and lower cylinder type. The upper cylinder type four-post lift has its cylinder placed on the top of the post (with a crossbeam), and the lower cylinder type has its cylinder placed under the flat plate. The upper cylinder type four-post lift mainly relies on four chains to pull up the four corners, and the tension cylinder is placed on the top. This structure is simple, but the deadweight increases. Most upper cylinder type four-post lifts have manual or pneumatic secondary lifting, and the repairman needs to run to the bottom to operate, which is inconvenient and unsafe for users who often use secondary lifting. The safety device is a pneumatic device, which is more troublesome if there is no air source.

The lower cylinder four-post lift mainly relies on four thick steel cables to pull up the four corners, and the tension cylinder is placed under the flat plate, and the force is transmitted to the four sides through six discs. This structure is relatively compact and has a lower deadweight. The secondary lifting is generally electric hydraulic, connected to the main pump, and the lifting speed is fast as long as the conversion valve is turned. The safety device is a wedge type, and the four wedges are linked by a pull rod. The safety device can be opened by pulling the pull rod, which is convenient and durable.

4.Scissor lift

The executive part of the scissor lift adopts the scissor-type stacking rod form and the electric drive mechanical transmission structure. It is currently widely used in large vehicle maintenance.

The lifting speed of the double scissor lift is moderate and does not occupy the pit position. It is undoubtedly the best choice for some relatively fixed models and high work intensity (such as in buses) repair fields. And because of its simple structure and good synchronization, it is generally used as a platform for four-wheel alignment. Scissor lifts are divided into several types, such as large scissor (mother-child type), small scissor (single scissor) lifts, and ultra-thin series scissor lifts. Small scissor lifts are mainly used for automobile maintenance and repair, with high safety and easy operation. After digging the groove, it is level with the ground. The large scissor lift has more gushing out, which is the best equipment for matching the four-wheel alignment instrument, and can be used for automobile maintenance, tires, and chassis inspection. It can be grooved or directly installed on the ground. The ultra-thin series scissor lift does not require trenching and is suitable for any repair shop. Some floors are not suitable for installing two-post lifts and ordinary four-post lifts, but this machine has a wide contact surface with the floor, so it can be installed on any floor that can drive, solving the customer’s site problem. This type of machine will be the mainstream product in the future, and this type of product is used on a large scale abroad.

5.Trench lift

Trench lift is an ideal equipment for large bus maintenance. It is more practical for workshops with low space, and it is inexpensive. Trench car lifts are installed on the two side tracks above the trench. They generally use electric drive, worm and worm gear reduction, thereby driving the screw and lifting beam up and down. This design makes the trench lift more flexible, with greater lifting force, stable lifting, and extremely convenient operation and installation. It is the most ideal lifting equipment for various maintenance companies that repair large buses and trucks. The trench runway type four-wheel alignment lift has an adjustable front wheel turntable (optional) and an extended rear wheel slide, which is suitable for positioning and measuring various models.
